What Will Be the Future of Ukraine in the Hi-Tech World?

4/17/2018

The main theme of this year's KIEF will be the future in the hi-tech world. Therefore, in addition to traditional discussions about the development of economy, industry, financial system and education, much of the Forum will be devoted to the latest technologies, including artificial intelligence, robotization, blockchain, and their impact on business and society. Implemented hi-tech projects will also be in the focus of the Forum: an exhibition zone of over 1,000 square meters will be arranged there.

In addition, KIEF participants are expected to discuss the issues of the development of economy, industry, financial system and education. Among the themes of panel discussions are the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, fair play on global markets, development of exports from raw materials to value added products, strategies for inclusive growth, the future of agribusiness, and so on.

There will be more than 1000 square meters of an exhibition area devoted to the already implemented high-tech projects. It will be an experimental stage combining art and business. KIEF's participants will have a unique experience of co-creation, cooperation and thorough understanding of the future together with participants of the II Blockchain Art Hackathon.

"The Forum's strategy is to bring together business leaders, authorities, society and international expert community within one communication platform to determine the most effective way of Ukraine's development and challenges on this way. And this approach is working well — KIEF has been proving it for the fifth consecutive year," said Yuriy Pyvovarov, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Kyiv International Economic Forum.

As part of the preparation for KIEF 2018, a series of business events will be held. The first of these, held on March 1 this year, was a public talk with the founder of UFuture and K.Fund Vasyl Khmelnytsky. And on March 30, KIEF together with the Ukrainian Association of the Club of Rome organized a conference of scientific youth "Economic Future of Ukraine" that united the energy of talented Ukrainian youth around the ideas of balanced and socially oriented economic development.

About KIEF

During the first KIEF, held in 2014, the contours of structural reforms needed for Ukraine’s economic breakthrough were outlined. Within KIEF-2015, experts offered the most effective tools for this breakthrough. The main conclusion was the advice not to give Ukraine's economy at the mercy of the free market, and specifically to manage it via the government-business-society triangle. 2016 Forum was dedicated to strategic issues: how to attract investments to Ukraine and how to become part of a global process of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

To participate in the fourth Forum, which in October 2017 brought together 113 speakers from 30 countries, 210 media representatives and more than 1,200 visitors, numerous delegations of potential investors visited Kyiv to learn about business opportunities in Ukraine. Thus, the Forum is working to improve the reputation of the country, and many entrepreneurs find partners, clients and new contacts for business development during the KIEF.
