Head of the Trade and Economic Section at EU Delegation in Ukraine

Alberto has worked in the European Commission since 2015. Firstly, in the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, where he coordinated financial assistance to countries in the Eastern Partnership and relations with International Financial Institutions. Following this, in 2018 he worked as auditor of EU social funds in Spain. Between 2019 and 2022 he worked in the Directorate-General for Trade as policy coordinator for Ukraine. Since September 2022 he is the Head of the Trade and Economic Section at the EU Delegation to Ukraine.

Prior to this, Alberto worked for three years in the banking sector in Brussels and also coordinated the economic topics during the 2010 Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU at the Permanent Representation of Spain to the OSCE in Vienna. He also served as UN volunteer in 2007-2008 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Alberto is an economist and holds two master’s degrees: European Economics (College of Europe, Bruges) and International Relations and Diplomacy (Spanish Diplomatic School, Madrid).
