In February 2015 Sakvarelidze served as a member of Georgian Parliament. He has gained extensive prosecutorial experience in Ministry of Justice of Georgia and later in the Administration of the President of Georgia. He served as the Deputy Chief Prosecutor and Prosecutor of Tbilisi.

Sakvarelidze is a graduate of the Law School of Tbilisi State University. He also graduated from St. Bonaventura University of New York in Political Science, and Toyo University of Itakura (Japan) in Regional Development Studies.
