Born and educated in Canada, David Ireland has specialized in B2G (business to government) sales throughout most of his 25-year career. After 7 years as a Canadian diplomat, David was Director of International Business Development for three privately-held companies, in Toronto, Boston and Ottawa, as also worked for the Australian trade development agency AUSTRADE in Lima.
David has led business development activities and managed customer accounts in much of Western Europe, the USA, Canada, Latin America, Japan and West Africa.
Fluent in five languages, David has extensive experience in emerging markets, which also afforded him regular exposure to cases of minor and large-scale corruption involving public procurement. Having worked with TRACE to ensure compliance of third party agents for his previous employer, a TRACE member, David joined TRACE two years ago.
TRACE International a unique non-profit association of multinational corporations dedicated to anti-bribery compliance. Working with hundreds of member companies and thousands of their third parties and other SMEs on which we have conducted due diligence reviews, TRACE strives to raise anti-bribery compliance standards and advance commercial transparency. While recognized for our leadership in promoting corporate compliance by the anti-corruption authorities of the World Bank, the OECD and the principal governments that enforce anti-corruption laws, TRACE remains completely autonomous of all governments and receives no public financing.
