Ruslan Magomedov

Chairman of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission (NSSMC)

Ukraine

Ruslan Magomedov is the Chairman of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission (NSSMC), an agency which carries out state regulation and supervision of capital markets and organized commodity markets in Ukraine.

He began his career in 2005 at the State Property Fund of Ukraine, where he took part in the landmark privatization of Kryvorizhstal. From 2007 to 2009, he headed the securities and stock trading division at the financial-industrial Midland Group.

From 2010 to 2016, as the CEO of Astrum Investment Management, he became one of the pioneers who brought stock trading “into the pocket” of Ukrainian investors — through a mobile application. This innovation elevated the securities market to a new level and strengthened the company’s position as a market leader.

From 2012 to 2016, he served as a member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrainian Exchange PJSC. In 2016–2017, he worked as an advisor to the Chairman of the Management Board of the state-owned bank Settlement Center PJSC.

From 2017 to 2019, he worked as a Senior Project Manager at the Reform Support Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) at the NSSMC. Prior to his appointment as Chairman of the Commission, he held several senior positions in the financial sector.

Today, Ruslan Magomedov combines the expertise of a market practitioner and a state reformer, building the modern architecture of Ukraine’s capital market.
