Vjaceslavs Dombrovskis

Minister of Economy and Energy in Latvia (2014), Minister of Education and Science in Latvia (2013-2014)

Vjaceslavs Dombrovskis is a former Minister of Education and Science (2013-2014) and former Minister of Economy and Energy in Latvia (2014).

He is a Member of Economic Policy Advisory Council to the Minister of Economy at Kyiv School of Economics, member of the board of "For Latvia's Development" political part, consultant in economic development and sustainable development goals, founder of "Certus" - the first privately-funded think tank in the Baltic States.

From 2011 to 2013 he served as Chairman of the Economic, Agricultural, Environmental, and Regional Policy Committee in the Latvian parliament, as well as Deputy Leader of the "Reform Party" parliamentary group.

He was elected to the 11th, 12th, and 13th Latvian parliaments. From 2018 to 2022 Vjaceslavs Dombrovskis served as Chairman of the Sustainable Development Committee at the Latvian Parliament, led parliamentary oversight of the National Action Plan and the European Green Deal in Latvia, served on the board of several political parties.

From 2003 to 2011 he worked as Assistant Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and Research Fellow at the Baltic International Center for Economic Policy Studies, taught in higher education establishments in Latvia and abroad, including OSCE Academy in Bishkek, Riga Graduate School of Law, Riga Business School, and University of Latvia. In 2003 he received his PhD and MA in economics from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts with a specialization in public sector economics and applied econometrics. 

In 1999 he received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Latvia.
