Serhiy Kvit holds a doctor's degree in Philology (Institute of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University), PhD (Free Ukrainian University, Munich).

He is a Founder of the Kyiv-Mohyla School of Journalism (2001).

2002-2006 Serhiy Kvit headed the Centre for Media Reforms and the Consortium for University Autonomy (2005-2010). In 2007-2014 he held a position of the president at the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy.

Awarded with Fulbright Scholar Grant (Ohio University, 2006-2007), internship at the Kennan Institute (Washington, 2009), the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD (Cologne, 2010).

His works on mass communications, higher education reform and philosophical hermeneutics have been published in Ukraine, Canada, Germany, the USA and the UK.
